What we do

At the Ronald D. Rushton Foundation, education and outreach are the cornerstones of our mission. We believe that knowledge is power, and through our dedicated efforts, we aim to empower individuals and communities in Northern Michigan with a deeper understanding of stroke awareness and recovery.

Our education initiatives encompass a wide range of activities, from hosting informative workshops and seminars to disseminating vital information through online resources and awareness campaigns. We strive to raise awareness about the signs and risk factors of stroke, emphasizing the importance of early detection and prevention. Additionally, we provide educational materials and resources to stroke survivors and their families, equipping them with the knowledge needed to navigate the often complex journey of recovery.

Through outreach programs, we extend our reach to underserved communities, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has access to valuable information and support. We actively engage with local healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations to create a network of support for stroke survivors. Our aim is to foster a community that not only understands the challenges of stroke but also stands together in offering compassion, assistance, and hope to those affected by this life-altering event.

In everything we do, our goal is to transform stroke awareness into action, arming individuals and communities with the knowledge and resources needed to make a difference in the lives of stroke survivors and their families. Together, we can build a stronger, more informed, and compassionate Northern Michigan.

The Ronald D. Rushton Foundation is unwavering in its commitment to providing vital support services to stroke survivors and their families. We understand that the journey to recovery is not only physical but also emotional, financial, and often overwhelming. That’s why we offer a range of support services designed to alleviate the burdens and challenges faced by those affected by stroke in Northern Michigan.

Our cornerstone support program, the Mileage Reimbursement Grant, eases the financial strain on families who must travel to medical facilities to be with their loved ones. We provide funds to cover essential expenses like fuel and maintenance, ensuring that families can be by the side of their stroke survivors when it matters most.

For those facing urgent financial needs, our Family Needs Grant offers assistance of up to $500, providing stability during times of uncertainty. These grants can help cover essential household expenses, such as rent, groceries, or medical bills, enabling families to focus on the recovery journey without added financial stress.

Additionally, our Special Needs and Events Fund is strengthened by community-driven fundraising efforts, such as our annual World Stroke Day events. These resources are dedicated to addressing specialized needs, fostering a sense of community, and highlighting the importance of stroke awareness and recovery.

At the Ronald D. Rushton Foundation, we are dedicated to being a lifeline of support, offering not only financial assistance but also emotional support through support groups and a compassionate community that understands the unique challenges faced by stroke survivors and their families. Our aim is to ensure that no one in Northern Michigan faces the journey of stroke recovery alone, and together, we can light the path towards a brighter future.
